terms of service

When an event is scheduled with Abruzzi Catering Co., the company and the client enter into a series of agreements with each other. Our commitment to you is one of excellence—of our food, our services, and our facilities. If you are in any way dissatisfied by the level of quality we provide to you, then we’re dissatisfied too, and we’ll do anything we can to make the situation right. By the same token, the client makes certain commitments to the company. These are described below and are reiterated in the contract each client signs as part of the reservation process. Please read them carefully, and don’t hesitate to call with any questions you may have.

payment for services

To reserve any services or facilities of Abruzzi Catering Co., a prepayment of fifty percent or $250, whichever is greater, must be received within fourteen days of placing the reservation. When a reservation is placed less than fourteen days prior to the event, the prepayment is due immediately and must be received before food or other products can be ordered. In either event, the availability of any services or facilities cannot be confirmed until the prepayment is received. The prepayment will be applied in full toward event charges.

Any remaining balance must be paid in full no less than three days prior to the start of the event. When additional charges are incurred during an event (such as bar fees or facility rental extension fees) the client will be billed and payment is expected within seven days. Please see your contract for details.

menu selection

Menu selection must be finalized at least fourteen days prior to an event. Because Abruzzi Catering Co. must sometimes use more expensive vendors to accommodate short-notice orders, menu selections made or altered after this date may be subject to additional charges. Menu changes cannot be made after food has been ordered.

seated menu selections

The number of guests requesting each entrée and/or dessert selection from a seated menu must be confirmed no less than ten days prior to the event so that appropriate quantities of food can be ordered and prepared. For the reasons mentioned above, entrée selections received after this date may be subject to additional charges.

minimum guaranteed attendance

Abruzzi Catering Co. menus are typically priced per person, and clients are asked when making reservations to estimate how many guests will attend an event. Because it is sometimes difficult to determine attendance numbers in advance, the company makes every effort to accommodate changes to these numbers. Clients have until ten days prior to an event to make adjustments to their initial attendance figures. The number provided at that time will be considered the minimum guaranteed attendance. Food and staffing will be provided to accommodate that level of attendance, and the client will be charged accordingly whether or not that number of guests attends.

As a courtesy to clients, Abruzzi Catering Co. will prepare and have on hand ten percent more food than is requested. (This policy applies only to buffet and seated service menu selections, and does not include appetizers.) The client will incur additional charges only if this food is consumed by guests. Any food not consumed is made available after the event to service staff and/or it is donated to local charities.

cancellations

Cancellations are rare but expensive. Occasionally a cancellation occurs after food has been ordered, sometimes even prepared, and service staff have been scheduled. There can be the additional unknown costs of lost business, which are considerably increased when a facility rental is involved. It is important that clients choose event dates carefully, as many of the costs of cancellation are necessarily passed on to the client.

In the event of cancellation, prepayments will be treated as non-refundable deposits and retained by Abruzzi Catering Co. to partially offset the costs of lost business. Should cancellation occur less than fourteen days prior to the event, the client will additionally be charged for any of our facilities reserved and any food or other product that has been ordered for the event. If an event is cancelled the day it is scheduled to occur, the total price of the minimum guaranteed attendance number will be charged.
